Job Description
CEO is seeking a full-time community organizer to coordinate with regional organizing efforts currently underway in the Greater Hartford area.  Successful candidate will organize consumers, small businesses, faith leaders, healthcare providers, union leaders and members within CEO’s catchment area for healthcare and corporate responsibility organizing.

Responsibilities

  • Organize various constituencies including labor, faith, community activists, small business, and health care providers to work on health care reform and corporate responsibility campaigns (this consists of working with already organized constituencies as well as doing outreach to new individuals and groups)
  • Coordinate various events and actions in support of the campaigns
  • Represent CEO at coalition meetings
  • Assist with grant search and writing
  • Maintain CEO website with current information and actions (training available)
  • Assist with annual fundraiser
  • Put together regular newsletter/email blast for distribution to CEO’s network
  • Assist with research on health care and corporate responsibility issues

Qualifications

  • Experience with community organizing and event planning
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Ability to multitask and quickly shift focus from one project to the next as the need arises
  • Commitment to social justice
  • Understanding of organizational strategies
  • Experience supervising interns and/or volunteers
  • Strong written and communication skills a must
  • Willing to work some evenings and some weekends
  • Access to an automobile for use on the job
  • Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of health care issues in CT
  • Knowledge of legislative processes
  • At least a bachelor’s degree
  • Spanish speaking a plus
